My kids are on vacation this week – Easter holidays. We have grand plans of taking everyone turtle watching at the beach. I really hope that happens because this is the perfect time of the year for it.
The endangered leatherback turtle nests here, and returns to the same nesting grounds where it was hatched to lay its own eggs each year. These massive reptiles are hunted for their meat, which I hate. Aside from the tragedy of the dwindling numbers… well… it’s only the female turtles that get hunted, because they’re the ones coming to nest!
Anyway, we’re going to try to make that trip in the coming weeks.
If the boys are very good I will take them to see the movie they’ve been clamouring to see – How to Train Your Dragon.
The reviews so far are pretty good, and I’m glad for a return of good family-friendly movies that I can safely take the kids to see. (The last movie I took them to see was Transformers where Ms Megan Fox was all but posed up for Playboy. No offense – she’s gorgeous – but not what I was expecting taking my 6 and 8 year olds…)
I’ve included the synopsis of the movie, followed by the new trailer for the movie, below. What will you be doing Easter weekend?
From the studio that brought you “Shrek,” “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda” comes “How to Train Your Dragon.” Set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, and based on the book by Cressida Cowell, the action comedy tells the story of Hiccup, a Viking teenager who doesn’t exactly fit in with his tribe’s longstanding tradition of heroic dragon slayers. Hiccup’s world is turned upside down when he encounters a dragon that challenges him and his fellow Vikings to see the world from an entirely different point of view.
DreamWorks Animation’s “How to Train Your Dragon” was produced by Bonnie Arnold and directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois. Rated PG.
