Sharing is Caring! I’m not sure where we got that from, but my friends and I used to say that all the time. Usually this was the line used to cajole that something delicious out of their hands for you to sample.
Worked every time.
Those guys have been my best friends for so long they are like sisters to me. My go-to gals for how-to tips and laughter and support.
I was talking to my girl C yesterday about my newfound love for blogging. And she asked me – “So do you feel like you have made connections with other moms? Do you feel supported?” And my answer simply was “Yes.”
There are some things you never discuss outside of your core circle of support, mostly because you’re avoiding the judgement often comes in a public forum. It’s not necessary vocal judgement either. It can come in the form of that disapproving frown. Or that “Well MYYY kids would NEEVER..” Whatever.
I am fascinated that that’s not what I’ve seen in the blogging world. I think it’s because we’ve stripped down to the parts we can all relate to, and the extraneous stuff that normally gets in the way isn’t there to bog us down.
It isn’t about where you’re from, how you speak, or dress, how clean or messy your house is… You love your friends and sisters just the same regardless of their differences. And so it is here and I hope that doesn’t change.
It’s hard to do this on your own. You need a little help from your friends. So in that spirit, let me share something I learned yesterday.
Hand Sanitizer can be fatal to a toddler if ingested
I came across an advisory earlier this week and thought it had to be a hoax. It checked out though. So I thought I would share it with you.
Many hand sanitizers are made up of 62 percent ethyl alcohol (aka ethanol). A 2-ounce bottle can be the equivalent of 4 shots of vodka! Imagine what that can do to a child. While there have been no reported deaths as a result of ingesting hand sanitizer (that I can find), it has led to an increasing number of cases of alcohol poisoning in children.
With all this H1N1 talk, and the push to keep hand sanitizers ready for use at all times, I think we need to be aware of the risk so we can avoid any unfortunate accidents. By all means use it, but remember it’s not your regular bathroom soap. Don’t leave it lying around if you have babies and toddlers in the house.
Ok, that’s it. Go check your handbag and see how much alcohol is in your hand sanitizer and then get it into the medicine cabinet!
I apologize (sorta) to Captain Dumbass for including him in the sistahood.
You know what I mean!
